Lemay neighbors worry plan to fill quarry with construction waste will bring traffic, floods, noise

A proposal to fill a quarry in unincorporated south St. Louis County has some neighbors pushing back.

A company wants to fill an inactive 30-acre quarry site in Lemay with construction waste. But some nearby residents are worried the project could bring flooding, traffic and other issues to their community.

“For me and for my family, I can’t tell you how many tears we’ve shed over the situation or how we’re worried about people’s safety,” said Gerrie Robards, whose family has lived next to the quarry for generations and owned it decades ago…
