St. Louis Driver Aims Car At Officer, Crashes During Chase Near Goodfellow

A 41-year-old man is being held without bond after St. Louis police say he rammed a patrol car, then aimed his vehicle directly at an officer standing near the median at Natural Bridge Avenue and Goodfellow Boulevard before crashing and fleeing on foot. Christopher Valley now faces first-degree assault charges, along with counts of resisting arrest, motor vehicle tampering, and leaving the scene of an accident, according to court records.

The chase began when St. Louis police spotted a car matching the description of a stolen vehicle, according to a probable cause statement cited by First Alert 4. Officers pulled behind the car and activated their emergency lights, and the driver fled rather than stop, the station reports. As officers pursued, Valley allegedly reversed and struck a patrol car before continuing to run.

The pursuit carried through the streets of St. Louis on Friday, August 14, according to police, before reaching the intersection of Natural Bridge and Goodfellow. That’s where, per the probable cause statement, Valley aimed his car at an officer standing near a patrol vehicle on the median. The officer jumped out of the way to avoid being hit, the same account states.

Crash, Chase On Foot, and Multiple Arrests

Valley then crashed into another car, according to the probable cause statement, before ditching his vehicle and fleeing on foot. Police apprehended Valley along with another passenger, while two additional passengers who had fled from the suspect’s car were also taken into custody, the station’s report notes.
