ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s SWAT officers made three arrests after three separate vehicle chases overnight Friday into Saturday.
The first happened around 10 p.m. when a Dodge Challenger ran a red light at Tucker Boulevard and Cole Street. Officers attempted to perform a traffic stop, and the driver fled. Metro Air Support then located the car, and it drove into Illinois and then back to Missouri. Later, officers located the car stopped in traffic on Third Street and Morgan Street and deployed spike strips, making the driver stop. The driver, a 41-year-old, was arrested for felony fleeing.
Then, at about 11 p.m., a Kia Optima ran a red light at N. Broadway and Convention Plaza. The driver then fled from police. Metro Air Support located this car and watched until it crashed near Tucker Boulevard and Cass Avenue in an open field. The 18-year-old driver and 15-year-old passenger then fled on foot. Officers first apprehended the driver, and then located the passenger with help from Metro Air Support. It was then determined that the car was stolen.
