State board signals support to St. Louis Public Schools after critical auditor report

Missouri education officials signaled their support for St. Louis Public Schools as the district navigates its school closures and transportation plan during a monthly State Board of Education meeting on Tuesday.

District officials updated state school board members about their “Future Ready” plan, attendance and student academic performance after Missouri State Auditor Scott Fitzpatrick called for an overhaul of the district’s governance structure last month.

“We accept the accountability, we accept the call to action, and we responded,” SLPS Superintendent Myra Berry said. “But I stand firm and resolute that this leadership will continue serving the students, staff, and families of the entire city of St. Louis with nothing but the best, highest expectations and love.”…
