ST. LOUIS — A 7-foot banner from the 1904 World’s Fair that was lost in storage for decades was discovered by staff at the Missouri Historical Society’s Library and Research Center.
The banner was uncovered during a recent collections review, more than 30 years after it was put into storage.
Between 1989 and 1990, Missouri Historical Society staff packed collections for a move to the Library and Research Center. Lots of oversized items were rolled into storage tubes and labeled with general descriptions, including “World’s Fair, view of festival hall and Cascades.”…
