ST. LOUIS – Boeing has been selected to develop a new U.S. carrier-based Navy combat aircraft known as the “F/A-XX.”
According to multiple reports, including AviationWeek.com, the Navy expects the F/A-XX to perform multiple duties as part of the Navy’s aircraft fleet, replacing the Boeing F/A-18E/F fighter and EA-18G Growler electronic attack aircraft.
The new aircraft’s primary task would be carrying out long-range strikes in the heavily defended airspace. Boeing would also prioritize its ability to protect from air and missile attacks…
