A former lieutenant colonel with the St. Louis County Police Department has settled a long-standing racial discrimination lawsuit against the county for more than $865,000.
Under the deal, the county will pay Troy Doyle $50,000 in lost wages and nearly $465,000 for emotional distress and other nonfinancial damages. The county will also pay Doyle’s attorneys more than $352,000. Insurance will cover the cost. The county does not admit any wrongdoing.
“As I have said for the past six years, Troy Doyle was my choice for police chief. I respect his many years of service to St. Louis County and his commitment to public safety,” County Executive Sam Page said in a statement…
