ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – Hillsdale Police Officer Marshall Thompson received $1,000 from the Demetrious Johnson Charitable Foundation on Wednesday, weeks after he was filmed being attacked while working his secondary job.
“It warms my heart to know that, hey, even though something happened, there’s still people to know like, hey, we still got your back,” Thompson said.
The attack
The attack was captured on video at around 2:30 a.m. on October 11, while Thompson was working at a QuikTrip on Lusher Road in North County. Two 20-year-old suspects, Shaniya Lewis and Nayonna Griffin, are in custody and face multiple charges, including second-degree assault.
The award
Thompson received the $1,000 award from the Demetrious Johnson Charitable Foundation at Hillsdale City Hall during a Board of Trustees meeting.
“This is just to say thank you, just not for what you did on that day, but just for who you are as an officer,” foundation president Jim Collins said…
