Missouri Firefighter’s Girlfriend Suddenly Dies in His Home. Three Years Before, His Fiancée Shot Herself - Also in His House

Police determined the single gunshot wound to Grace Holland’s head in 2021 was self-inflicted- a notion her loved ones reject

The family of a woman found dead inside her firefighter fiancé’s house in July 2021 is urging investigators in Frontenac, Missouri, to “fully investigate” the recent death of the man’s podiatrist girlfriend, who also died in his home.

While local news reports do not name the firefighter, Fox News has identified him as Maryland Heights Fire Captain Robert “Rob” Daus.

His girlfriend, 39-year-old local doctor Sarah Kathleen Sweeney , died the morning of Jan. 13. Investigators have classified her death as “sudden” — not suspicious, according to First Alert 4 .

A cause of death for Sweeney — who’d only just opened her practice, according to her obituary — has not been determined, as medical examiners await toxicology test results.

Police in Frontenac claim in a statement there were no signs of a struggle or trauma inside Daus’ residence. The firefighter had met the doctor two years ago, while she was working an emergency room shift at a St. Louis hospital.
