St. Louis Fire Department on scene of major building collapse in South City

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Thirty six St. Louis Firefighters and the The Collapse Rescue Task Force are on the scene of a major collapse of a vacant three story apartment building.

A large number of the unhoused community are known to seek shelter in the building. As of now, there are no reports of injuries, however, Captain Garon Mosby says the fire department’s K-9 is on the scene and thermal imaging is being used to see if there are any heat signatures inside the building.

But Mosby says this is a very large building that will take some time to search. There is also concern, there could be another collapse. All the major utilities have been requested, there are live power lines that are down. There are restrictions in place around the perimeter of the collapse. This is in the 3600 block of South Grand.
