The Piccadilly at Manhattan is an American-style grill located at 7201 Piccadilly Avenue in St. Louis, Missouri. As the story goes, this restaurant originally opened in 1901 before the World’s Fair landed in St. Louis. This makes it over a century old, but you can do the math.
For generations, the Piccadilly has been owned by the Collida family. That story began with the late Niccolo Collida (1885-1962). It used to be called the Piccadilly Buffet. Niccolo’s son, Anthony “Tony” Robert Collida (1923-1983), and his wife, Phyllis M. Collida (1922-2006), carried on the tradition.
Located in the Ellendale neighborhood, the restaurant underwent a long restoration steered by Nick and Maggie Collida, which began in 2001. After being closed for six years, it reopened in December 2007, still family-owned, as the Piccadilly at Manhattan.
It’s amazing this restaurant has continued to operate at its location for decades. Molly, daughter of Nick and Maggie, holds the oar now.
Like most restaurants, the Piccadilly serves appetizers and soups and salads. Some of the entrees include Chicken Pot Pie, Meatloaf, and of course, Fried Chicken. For lunch, the menu includes the Famous Piccadilly Fish, Pulled Pork, and the Meltdown. The Piccadilly runs specials you can find on its website. You can also order food to take home to cook. Nice.
