Historic house of General Daniel Bissell owned by St. Louis County and serves as a museum

The historic home of Gen. Daniel Bissell, Revolutionary War general, is located at 10225 Bellefontaine Road in Bellefontaine Neighbors, Missouri (St. Louis County). Bellefontaine Neighbors is an inner-suburb in North St. Louis County. According to World Population Review, it has over 10,000 residents.

The Bissell House is also known as Franklinville Farm or Bissell Manor. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 28, 1978. The house is an example of the Federal architectural style and it was constructed in 1819.

  • General Daniel Bissell – b. 1768, d. Dec. 14, 1833, age 64–65
  • Mrs. Daniel Bissell (Deborah Sebor), b. l774, d. Nov. 15, 1843, age 68–69
  • Bissell estate presumed to be vacant until 1846
  • James Russell Bissell, Gen. Bissell’s son, b. 1808, d. Jan. 3, 1887, age 78
  • Mrs. James Russell Bissell (Anna Haight Christopher) – b. 1824, d. Jan. 21, 1905, age 80
  • Bissell estate presumed to be vacant until 1924
  • French Rayburn Bissell (son to James and Anna) – b. 1861, d. Sept. 25, 1933, age 72
  • Mrs. French Rayburn Bissell (Emily Fannie Watson) – b. 1871, d. Nov. 10, 1945, age 74
  • Mrs. Renwick Dimond (Janet Watson Bissell), daughter to French and Emily – owned until 1960
  • St. Louis County Department of Parks and Recreation
