Aldi has been in the US since 1976, it has grown to be the 13th largest grocery chain in the country. The company, headquartered in Batavia, ILL does about $27B in sales annually which translates to 2.1% of the grocery retail market. This is according to a report in Super Market News from last August.
Aldi now has 2356 stores across 38 states and Washington DC, The largest number of stores is in Florida (216) followed closely by Illinois (216). The presence in Missouri (97) lags well behind the top 2 but with the opening of a new store in Maryland Heights, the numbers are growing. The store will be located at 12632 Dorsett Road–the Grand opening is scheduled for February 29th.
