ST. LOUIS – In St. Louis, a recent development has unfolded in the case against two men, Roy Lee Jones, 21, and Xavier Sean Boyd, 20, both from Jennings, who were already indicted for the armed robbery of two mail carriers in 2022. A superseding indictment issued by the U.S. District Court in St. Louis on Wednesday has expanded the charges against them to include a third robbery.
Previously facing six felony counts—two for robbery, two for theft of a mail key, and two for possession and brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a crime—the new indictment introduces an additional count for each category. This move by the judiciary underscores the severity with which the criminal justice system views crimes against postal workers.
According to the indictment, the accused are alleged to have robbed two U.S. Postal Service letter carriers at gunpoint on June 9, 2022, specifically targeting the carriers’ “arrow keys,” which are used to open certain USPS collection boxes. Furthermore, Boyd is implicated alongside an unnamed accomplice in a similar crime that occurred on June 1, emphasizing a pattern of targeting postal employees.
