Russell’s on Macklind in St. Louis: bacon-wrapped meatloaf and so much more

Every good meatloaf needs to be wrapped in bacon. Bacon-wrapped meatloaf at Russell’s on Macklind is one of the signature items at this restaurant. The presentation is spot-on.

Russell’s on Macklind – Southampton is at 5400 Murdoch in St. Louis. The other cafe, Russell’s Café & Bakery – Fenton, is the original location of this family-owned establishment at 952 Brookwood Center, St. Louis, Missouri.

There’s also Russell’s Bakeshop and its gooey butter cake and shortbread crust. The Bakeshop ships its cakes, four kinds of which are available at Fresh Thyme Markets and all Dierbergs locations in the St. Louis area.

Chef and owner Russell Ping is a self-taught baker and chef. So amazing. In 2006, at age 22, he opened the Fenton location with help from his mother, Kate Ping.

Russell’s on Macklind serves brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Dinner has starters, salads, and a wide variety of entrées. Visit here for that menu. Save room for dessert! This venue offers catering. Upstairs is an event space that seats up to 40. There’s also a covered deck that seats up to 30, or a lower garden patio which can accommodate up to 40 people.
