New Cardinals executive to be promoted for 2025 season, per insider

The St. Louis Cardinals are once again on the outside looking in. Last week, they were officially eliminated from postseason contention.

Instead of focusing on contending in 2025, the Cardinals appear to have something else in mind. They may look to instead upgrade other areas of the organization.

According to Katie Woo of The Athletic , one of the newest members of the front office is expected to take on a much larger role.

“Chaim Bloom, who helped shape the Tampa Bay Rays into a player development powerhouse before enduring a turbulent stint as general manager of the Boston Red Sox, joined the Cardinals earlier this year as a consultant to audit the club’s minor-league operations,” Woo wrote. “Bloom has since joined the front office full-time. He will be charged with making changes in the Cardinals’ farm system based on his findings.”

At the very least, it appears as though Bloom is going to take on a much larger role in 2025. What his role will entail isn’t entirely clear, but he’ll be more prominent within the organization next year.
