Eureka business owners, residents and organizations will not let the city’s annual Scarecrow Festival disappear. Eureka officials announced last month that the city would no longer organize the annual event that started in 2014 and saw hundreds of scarecrows scattered around town. Julie Wood, Eureka’s city clerk and communications director, said the decision to end the festival was made in the spring after there was little interest from other organizations in helping plan the event.
