4 at-large suspects use candy in Los Altos home break-in: police

( KRON ) — Authorities are searching for four suspects in connection to a home burglary over the weekend, the Los Altos Police Department announced in a news release. Between 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Sept. 28, three male suspects broke into a home on the 700 block of Covington Road by smashing a rear glass door in the backyard.

The three suspects were “scared away” by the occupants who were inside the home at the time, police said. No items were taken, but the suspects were able to flee the scene in a newer model gray Dodge Durango with tinted windows (pictured below). It had no license plate.

Before the break-in, a fourth suspect, a female, was caught on video at the front door of said residence holding a box of candy, according to Los Altos police. Investigators believe “this was a ruse to determine if anyone was home.” No one answered the door, and the three male suspects proceeded to break into the home.
