California’s Hurricane Threat: Are We Prepared?

Plagued by the devastation of Hurricane Helene, lives lost, and property destroyed, some of us are left thinking about what we would do if a hurricane with the force of Helene were to make its way to California.

Residents of the Golden State are familiar with earthquakes, and the majority know how to be prepared and how to be alerted with apps such as MyShake. I can tell you that MyShake alerts us to an earthquake before we feel the shaking, as my app has blared several times.

The Golden State is also familiar with California Wildfires. They are unfortunate, but they seem to flare up yearly, causing the loss of infinite property, homes, and, at times, lives. You might also download an app called Watch Duty that alerts you to fires in your area, evacuation warnings, and spots of safety.
