Woman sues boyfriend accused of shooting her in Ameristar parking garage

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – A 27-year-old woman shot at the Ameristar Casino parking garage in St. Charles survived, but will forever deal with life-changing injuries.

“It’s going to be a long road not just on the physical side for her, but on the emotional and mental health side,” her attorney Grant Boyd said.

The bullet went through her shoulder and neck. Boyd says she now has a permanent tracheostomy and PTSD.

“Luckily, due to a couple of bystanders as well as a response from emergency medical personnel and the hospital, they were able to save her life,” he said.

Boyd has filed a lawsuit for the Jane Doe against the suspected shooter, her boyfriend Calvin Koong. The lawsuit accuses Koong of repeatedly physically assaulting and battering the plaintiff, causing severe physical injury, disfigurement, and emotional distress.

In criminal court, Koong is charged with first-degree domestic assault, armed criminal action, and kidnapping because he is accused of not letting the victim out of the car during the alleged assault.
