MSHP: Stolen vehicle crashes into water in Jefferson County

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. – A driver in a stolen vehicle crashed down an embankment into water Friday morning in Jefferson County. Two people were inside the car, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened near Old Highway M and Chasteen Lane near Barnhart, Missouri.

MSHP says one occupant was initially trapped but has seen been extricated. Additional details on the condition of the second occupant are unknown.

Helicopters and medical crews have arrived to the scene. Around 8:30 a.m., MSHP reported there were no fatalities in the crash.

Authorities are also attempting to make an arrest of a man after responding to a mental health situation Friday morning in Jefferson County on Highway 30. However, this is an unrelated incident to the crash.
