ST. CHARLES, Mo. — A vendor at a St. Charles coin show reported the theft of $250,000 worth of collectible currency from his hotel room on July 19, leading to charges against a fellow vendor who had been sharing the room.
Dallas R. Langham now faces charges of stealing and possession of a controlled substance. According to police reports, Langham was present when the victim stored the valuable coins and money in the room’s closet. He and had been given a key to the shared room.
The victim discovered the theft after returning from dinner. Langham, who had returned to the room around 11 p.m., claimed he noticed the missing collectables and damage to the door. Investigators note that the door damage was inconsistent with typical forced entry patterns.

During the investigation, police discovered meth in Langham’s vehicle, which laboratory tests confirmed as 0.9 grams. After failing a polygraph examination on July 20, Langham reportedly admitted to daily methamphetamine use over the past year and confessed to previous thefts from vendors at other coin shows.
