Saint Louis Fire Department honors dedicated firefighter’s retirement

The Saint Louis City Fire Department is wishing a firefighter of more than 30 years a happy retirement.

Demetris Alfred hung up his heavy jacket and his helmet yesterday, after 33 years of service.

Alfred, also known as ‘Al’, is credited with having a phenomenal work ethic. The department says it is fueled by his passion to serve others.

He had previously served as the first black president of ‘Saint Louis Firefighters Local 73’.

Alfred has received recognition time and again, including by the Saint Louis Blues in 2018.
