ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo — Ferguson-Florissant superintendent Dr. Joseph Davis has been put on administrative leave pending an investigation regarding ‘personal matters’ according to the district.
The district said in a news release on Sunday that after a closed meeting Saturday night, the board decided to put Dr. Davis on leave as the district conducted an independent investigation per an external party.
The board appointed Dr. Jocelyn Pugh-Walker, executive director of federal programs, and Brent Mitchel, assistant superintendent of support services, as co-acting superintedents to carry out Dr. Davis’s duties.
“We are confident in Dr. Pugh-Walker and Mr. Mitchell’s leadership and their ability to guide the district during this time of transition without disruption to our schools or services,” said Board President Dr. Kevin M. Martin in the statement.
“To our staff, students, families, and community, we want you to know that the Board is committed to being transparent and keeping you informed as we navigate this process. Our focus remains on the success and well-being of our students, staff, and the entire Ferguson-Florissant community,” the district said.
