$50,000 bond; Chicago man tries to use counterfeit $100 in Missouri, police say

OWENSVILLE, Mo. — A Chicago man faces criminal charges in the St. Louis area after he and several others tried to use counterfeit $100 bills at two Owensville businesses Monday, according to court records.

Around 4:30 p.m. Monday, the Owensville Police Department got a report of counterfeiting at an Ownesville business. An officer was sent to investigate, but when they got there, the suspect had already left the scene.

After speaking to the reporting party, the officer found that the suspect had tried to make a purchase with a suspected counterfeit $100 bill…
