Saint Louis Zoo announces death of elderly lioness Cabara

ST. LOUIS — The Saint Louis Zoo on Wednesday announced the death of 19-year-old African Lion Cabara, who was humanely euthanized due to advanced liver disease.

Cabara was born in 2005 at Switzerland’s Basel Zoo and moved to St. Louis at 18 months old. She was preceded in death by her longtime mate, Ingozi, who was euthanized in November at age 17 due to advanced liver and spinal disease.
