St. Louis city officials aim to catch up on trash pickups

ST. LOUIS – Hundreds of south St. Louis residents are fed up as trash piles up in their icy neighborhoods.

Residents on Bancroft Street say trash has been sitting in their alley dumpster for weeks. The alley still has patches of ice—which is one reason city leaders say is causing big delays in services.

“It’s inconsistent. We never know when it’s going to be picked up,” resident Maureen Horak said. “We’ll hear a truck come, and it might even go past us, but we never know when something’s being picked up.”…
