St. Louis Justice Center detainee taken to hospital Saturday, discharged, dies Sunday, officials say

ST. LOUIS — A man detained at the St. Louis Justice Center died Sunday after he was found unresponsive and rushed to Barnes-Jewish Hospital, according to a statement from Interim Corrections Commissioner Doug Burris.

“The detainee was taken to St. Louis University Hospital (SLUH) yesterday, March 22, after CJC staff found him on the floor at the jail,” Burris’s statement said. “A toxicology report showed that the incident was not drug related and seizures were suspected.”

The detainee, who wasn’t named as of Sunday afternoon, was discharged from SLUH and returned to the City Justice Center on Saturday…
