A robbery that transpired in the heart of downtown has District 4 detectives combing for clues after a teenager fell victim to a fraudulent exchange turned threatening, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police detailed the incident that occurred on the 1700 block of Washington Avenue on Tuesday, in a report posted on the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s official website.
The 19-year-old male victim had arranged a meeting with a 35-year-old male to sell a watch, but the straightforward transaction spiraled into deception and danger, he handed the watch to the suspect and in return, was duped with counterfeit money, prompting the teen to follow the suspect until he reached his getaway car, a silver Ford Fusion, and according to the report from authorities, the suspect revealed a handgun before making his escape.
