City Museum employee faces charges after alleged attack on coworker, police officer

ST. LOUIS — A City Museum for allegedly assaulting a coworker and a police officer during a violent outburst Tuesday at the downtown St. Louis attraction.

A probable cause statement says 37-year-old Rodney Ward, an employee at the City Museum, became verbally aggressive with coworkers before headbutting one worker in the face. Witnesses then escorted Ward to an emergency stairwell, where he allegedly armed himself with a 2-by-4 wooden board.

Police officers found Ward on the museum’s third floor, still armed with the board, the probable cause statement says. After repeated commands from officers, Ward dropped the board and was handcuffed. However, he resisted arrest by planting his feet to avoid being moved and kicked one officer in the head.
