Man Fatally Stabbed in Alleged Home Invasion in St. Louis’ Academy Neighborhood

Tragedy struck on March 26 when a man died following a violent stabbing incident in the Academy neighborhood. According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded to a call at approximately 8:35 p.m. in the 5100 block of Maple Avenue regarding a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, they discovered a 53-year-old man, later identified as Michael Johnson Jr., of the same block, suffering from fatal puncture wounds in the rear yard of the residence.

Additionally, two other individuals, an adult male and female, were found with cuts and injuries. The preliminary findings of the police investigation suggested that the late Johnson, Jr. had apparently forced his way into the home and initiated the assault. The police report stated, “The man was ultimately able to gain control of the knife and stabbed the 53-year-old man,” hinting at a possible act of self-defense. The circumstances leading up to the incident remain under investigation.

Emergency medical services declared Johnson, Jr. dead at the scene after their arrival. The two injured occupants were taken to a local hospital and have since been listed in stable condition.
