Maryland Heights celebrates 40th anniversary with festive community parade

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. – The City of Maryland Heights, Missouri, is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a weekend of festivities, highlighted Saturday by a fun-filled parade through town and local landmarks.

The parade kicked off around 10:30 a.m., starting at the Maryland Heights Government Center on Dorsett Road and ending near Westport Plaza.

Crowds lined the streets to enjoy floats, classic cars, giveaways and other celebratory surprises. Even FOX 2 joined in on the parade.

Maryland Heights became an incorporated city of St. Louis County in May 1985. In the mid-20th century, Maryland Heights transformed from a rural landscape to one of the largest suburban St. Louis communities. In the present day, Maryland Heights has grown its business landscape and is home to well-known destinations like Creve Coeur Lake, Westport Plaza, Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre and Centene Community Ice Center…
