STL area Catholics pray for Pope Leo on Good Shepherd Sunday

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – Catholics across the bistate and the world came together for special masses Sunday praying for the newly-elected Pope Leo XIV, the first American to serve as pontiff.

Worshippers gathered at Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis on Good Shepherd Sunday and were thinking of the church’s new shepherd, who will lead the world’s estimated 1.4 billion Catholics.

“I think that the pope will lead us in the right directions and take the church where it needs to go,” said Ken Holtschlag, who attended the mass. “He’s a very good person, a very sincere person and seems like a very honest person.”…
