Man accused in Officer Spiess incident charged in February robbery

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – The man accused in a crash earlier this year that caused a St. Louis officer to lose part of his leg is now facing more charges.

St. Louis Metropolitan Police Officer Nathan Spiess had his leg partially amputated after being hit by a car on Interstate 70 near Shreve in March. Mekhi Campbell and Frank Carr were charged in connection with the incident.

Campbell, 18, was allegedly the driver of the Acura that led police on the chase onto Interstate 70 before Officer Spiess was hit. He is charged with first-degree assault on a law enforcement officer, armed criminal action, aggravated fleeing and resisting arrest…
