Overland man dies following Big River water rescue

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. – An Overland, Missouri, man died overnight after he was pulled from the Big River at Rockford Park on Saturday afternoon.

According to John Barton, lead engineer for the High Ridge Fire Protection District, a man in his 40s was entering the Big River with his two sons when he was trapped in the current and couldn’t get out.

Barton said the victim was trapped in a circular current within that part of Big River.
