ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – The judge who will oversee the quo warranto case that Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey brought against St. Louis Sheriff Alfred Montgomery stepped away from the bench a year ago.
St. Louis sheriff ends inmate hospital transport citing budget cuts – mayor calls move ‘ludicrous’
Bailey filed a writ of quo warranto to oust Montgomery after the sheriff refused to resign. The quo warranto petition has five charges for now, including:
- Unlawfully detaining a jail commissioner
- Failing to transport prisoners for medical treatment
- Nepotism, alleging the sheriff hired his half-brother
- Failing to manage department finances
