ST. LOUIS – The City of St. Louis has been known for a variety of things over the years: The Arch, toasted ravioli, and the question as old as time of “What high school did you go to?” But St. Louis also used to be home of the first floating McDonald’s restaurant decades ago.
On March 11, 1989, McDonald’s opened the walkway to the boat along the Mississippi River that held the popular fast-food favorites for children and adults.
Originally, management wanted the chain restaurant directly underneath The Arch in the museum, but our partners at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that government officials were not fond of transforming the space to private businesses…
