North St. Louis residents face higher Ameren bills after rate hike amid repairing tornado-damaged homes

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – Some residents in north St. Louis are still living in damaged homes following the May 16 tornado. Now, many of them are facing higher electric bills following a recent rate increase by Ameren Missouri.

Joann Duckworth, who lives in the O’Fallon neighborhood, said her home sustained significant damage during the tornado. Bricks fell from the structure, the roof was damaged, and rain continues to leak inside.

“I came outside and looked and everything was a disaster,” Duckworth said…
