1. New study sheds light on Coldwater Creek, links to cancer
A study published by the Journal of the American Medical Association Wednesday found that living near Coldwater Creek in north St. Louis County as a child in the 1950s and 1960s was associated with an increased risk of overall cancer as well as a higher incidence of cancers linked to radiation. The study gives further credence to what residents in the area have long claimed about the waterway, which was contaminated by Manhattan Project-era nuclear waste that was produced in the region.
