Arrest made in February shooting of 13-year-old sleeping in his home

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – A Berkeley man was charged Saturday in a February shooting that injured a sleeping teen in St. Louis City.

St. Louis City prosecutors charged 22-year-old Joshua Malone of Berkeley with first-degree assault, two counts of armed criminal action and one count of unlawful use of a weapon. He is being held at the St. Louis City Justice Center without bond.

The shooting happened on Feb. 10 in the 5700 block of Goodfellow Place. The teen’s mother, Talonda White, told First Alert 4 that her 13-year-old son, JaVoni Ball, was asleep when shots were fired outside their home and struck him.

“Once I came out, he was laying on the floor like ‘Mommy, I got shot.’ I immediately dialed 911,” White told First Alert 4 in February…
