The Madison County Board Meeting on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, was held at the Nelson “Nellie” Hagnauer County Board Room in the Administration Building in Edwardsville. The Invocation was led by Pastor Mark Maynard, of Calvary Life Church in Granite City. County Board Chairman Chris Slusser (R) asked for a moment of silence for 5th District Appellate Court Justice Thomas Welch who recently passed away, as well as 3 teenagers who tragically passed in recent weeks.
Slusser introduced Rob Werden to announce Madison county athletic achievements.
Senior Elena Rybak, earned her 4th state 1A championship in the 1600 Meter (4 minutes 54 seconds) and 800 meter (2 minutes 3 seconds) twice and will be attending Notre Dame in August 2025. She owns the school record at Father McGivney Catholic High School in Glen Carbon with 12 state medals. James Helton, her coach, was applauded and he announced his retirement so he can hang with his grandkids…
