Kirkwood Police Report Week of Unrest with Accidental Shooting, Copper Theft, Vehicle Theft, and Cyclist Assault

In Kirkwood, Missouri, a series of incidents were reported between July 5 and last Sunday, including a self-inflicted gunshot wound, copper plate theft, vehicle theft, and an assault on a cyclist. The Kirkwood Police Department provided details in a social media post. The first incident occurred on July 6, when a man unintentionally discharged a firearm and shot himself in the foot while showing it to a friend inside his vehicle. He was transported to the hospital for medical treatment.

On July 7, an AT&T representative reported the theft of copper grounding plates, valued at approximately $300, from a tower. The incident is believed to have occurred sometime between early May and early July. Later, during the early hours of July 11, a resident’s vehicle was taken from her driveway, where the key fob had been left inside.
