Family demands transparency after son dies in City Justice Center

ST. LOUIS – The family of a man who died in the St. Louis City Justice Center over the weekend is demanding answers days after they learned of his death.

The family of 31-year-old Samuel Hayes Jr. and their attorneys gathered in front of the jail on Monday, asking for the city to release the surveillance footage connected to Hayes’ death.

St. Louis Metropolitan Police confirmed that the Justice Center notified police of an in-custody death around 11:35 p.m. on Saturday.
