STL City NAACP calls out DCI for discrimination; agency responds

ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis City NAACP is blasting the Missouri Department of Commerce and Insurance (DCI) for what it calls “systemic neglect from those charged with protecting the public.”

St. Louis City NAACP President Adolphus Pruitt said the May tornado exposed “centuries-long discriminatory insurance practices.”

He referred to it as “redlining,” a practice that originated in the 1930s where government maps were used to prevent Black people from getting home loans and insurance in certain areas.
