St. Louis police recover 1,000 pounds of stolen utility wire

ST. LOUIS – Police recovered nearly 1,000 pounds of stolen utility wire during a recent undercover operation at a St. Louis recycling center.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department partnered with a local utility company, setting up a sale of utility wire to the SA Recycling Center, which is located at 300 E. Nagel St. in the city’s Patch neighborhood.

Investigators say the recycling center did not follow proper procedures and illegally purchased the wire.
