St. Louis man indicted after police chase crash in Wood River kills Alton couple

EDWARDSVILLE — A St. Louis man accused of fleeing from police, resulting in a July 3 crash that killed an Alton couple, has been indicted on multiple felony charges by a Madison County grand jury.

This came a day after a wrongful death suit was filed Wednesday against the City of Wood River for initiating and continuing the police pursuit that ended with the fatal crash at the intersection of Illinois 3 and 143. George and Donna Julian of Alton were the couple killed in the crash.

Miko D. Martin, 29, of St. Louis, was indicted Thursday, July 24 with two counts of first degree murder, both Class M felonies; possession of a firearm by a repeat felony offender, a Class X felony; two counts of felon in possession of a weapon and two counts of reckless homicide, all Class 2 felonies; and three counts of aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude a peace officer, all Class 4 felonies…
