Non-profit organizations in St. Louis that have played critical roles in the tornado response efforts may now apply for financial aid, thanks to the city’s decision to allocate funds for reimbursement grants. These grants are drawn from the Rams Settlement Funds, established specifically for Tornado Relief and Recovery. Mayor Cara Spencer recognized the non-profits’ relentless drive to support affected communities since the May 16 tornado, highlighting that the initiative aims to assist such organizations with the expenses they’ve incurred.
The city of St. Louis is collaborating with the United Way of Greater St. Louis to manage the proposals and distribution of funds. Non-profits with eligible claims can apply for grants reaching up to $150,000 to cover various costs they’ve faced from May 16 through August 31. According to the City of St. Louis’ official announcement, the total funds expected to be made available for this purpose amount to $3,500,000.00.
The spectrum of reimbursable expenses encompasses providing essential resources, emergency contracts, staff support, and temporary housing.
