Man Fatally Shot in Walnut Park East, St. Louis Police Investigating

A man was shot and killed in an incident that shook Walnut Park East, as officers responded to a distressing call last Friday. Law enforcement officials have identified the victim as Jerome Mason, Jr., a 26-year-old resident of St. Louis City, according to a release from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

The incident took place on August 19, 2025, around 5:10 p.m., when St. Louis police were alerted to a shooting at West Florissant & Davison Avenue. Upon their arrival, they discovered Mason suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, inside of a crashed vehicle. The area, often bustling with activity became a somber scene as the reality of another life lost to gunfire settled in.

The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) team promptly arrived at the location but tragically, Mason was pronounced dead at the scene. As the community grapples with this loss, Homicide Detectives are actively piecing together the circumstances that precipitated the fatal encounter.
