Multiple people have been hospitalized after a Missouri home exploded Monday morning and spread fire to several nearby houses, officials said.

At around 9:15 a.m. Monday, multiple fire agencies responded to a report of a “significant multiple house explosion” with people trapped on the 3700 block of Candlewyck Drive and the 3800 block of Belcroft Drive in Black Jack, a suburb of St. Louis.

Black Jack Fire Protection District and Florissant Valley Fire Protection District firefighters arrived to find several houses fully involved in heavy fire along with extensive structural damage. Black Jack fire officials said the fire was upgraded to three alarms and an EMS strike team and Urban Search and Rescue task force were called to help find potential victims “in the rubble.”…
