St. Louis sheriff launches online fundraiser amid indictment and legal battle

ST. LOUIS — Within the last 24 hours, St. Louis Sheriff Alfred Montgomery has launched an online donation drive.

This comes after a federal indictment almost a week ago for a federal misdemeanor charge in connection with handcuffing city jail official, Tammy Ross, earlier this year. Ross has also sued Montgomery for the incident. This incident is also mentioned in Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey’s quo warranto petition seeking to remove Montgomery from office.

On the St. Louis Sheriff’s Facebook page, there’s a donation drive for Montgomery. The donation drive is being done through a fundraising platform called ActBlue. On that page, Montgomery claims he’s faced relentless scrutiny since being elected and voters voices are under attack…
